This is a first for me and I'm quite excited, albeit a little nervous all at the same time!!! I've joined the Tiny Treasures Exchange and am looking forward to the first exchange in January. I'm a terrible procrastinator when it comes to finishing so this should cure me!!!
It's a quiet day around here today. I'm home with my middle daughter who was ill and kept us up last night. She's feeling better now so, I'm going to try and be a little bit productive and get some laundry done and try and enjoy a little extra stitching time.
Tonight was a wonderful evening spent with an old friend, catching up on the last 8 years and indulging in too much coffee and cheesecake. It's amazing how so much time can go by and yet with those amazing friendships you can pick up right where you left off. I'm a lucky girl to have such wonderful friends, and I'm making a resolution to try a little harder not to let so much time go by again. Maybe if I make a resolution in the middle of the year instead of the beginning it will work better!!
We left home at 7:30 Friday night (the 27th) and drove, and drove, and drove some more! We got to the border at 3am, stopped in Butte, Montana for breakfast, and other than that only stopped for gas and the occasional pee break until we reached Birgham City, Utah around 3:00 Saturday afternoon. We spent the night at a KOA campground, shopped at the local Wal-Mart (of course!), went swimming and had homemade ice cream at the campground. We packed up in the morning and went on to Mesquite, Nevada where we stayed Sunday & Monday night. Sunday we drove back to St. George, Utah (1/2 hour drive, but left Nevada, through Arizona, and back into Utah & a different time zone) to go shopping at the outlet mall there. It's beautiful country, but it's definitely hot!!! It was 108 degrees while we were in Mesquite, we spent lots of time at the pool and searching for air conditioning! Monday morning we packed up again and headed to California. We stopped in North Las Vegas at a tire shop for Dad's van, and went to shopping at Target to kill some time. After waiting 1 1/2 hours, we found out that they didn't have Dad's tires after all, and we may be heading back there yet! We drove on through Baker, CA where they have the world's largest thermometre which read 109 (but thankfully were leaving since we heard it was supposed to reach 111 degrees over the next couple of days). We stopped at Peggy Sue's Diner for dinner (what a fun place!) and then headed on to Pemona CA where we spent Monday night.
We had an amazing view from our site but unfortunately had some unwelcome guests as well that came up from the valley (skunks!) and we trapped ourselved in our tent for bed by 9:30. Tuesday morning we packed up once more and headed to LA where we went & picked up the rest of our crew from LAX. We spent Wednesday, Thursday & Friday at Disneyland (which the kids said is a dream come true) and Saturday at Universal. The weather was great, but got a little too hot at Universal yesterday and some of us got a wee bit red.... This morning we went to church at the Crystal Cathedral which was the most amazing thing. What a beautiful place!! We drove to San Diego today and will be here until Thursday. We're looking at the zoo tomorrow, Sea World on Tuesday, and then probably the beach on Wednesday. It was pretty dark when we got here today, and we didn't see much ocean, but did get a glimpse of some surfers!!!
.....for fall!!! I can't help myself, we had early registration for hockey today, and I love watching them so much! Honestly, I'm not trying to wish my summer away, because I cannot wait for our summer holidays either!
Today was the first time in seven years that my brother, sister and I were in the same room together and man, did we laugh. A wonderful (although too quick) visit with lots of reminiscing and laughing about things we did in the past (we were pretty stupid kids!). It was good for the soul and much needed for me today. My only wish is that we could do it more often...... ~The picture is added after from when we got together the next day~
