Well, it's almost 1:00 in the morning before the last day of school before Christmas break, and the teachers gifts just got finished!!
They totally slipped my mind this year... We don't do very much for our teachers, but like to recognize how important they are to our family. Well, my memory was jogged after dinner tonight when my daughter asked me what she would be giving her teacher tomorrow for Christmas. Oops!
So we sent DH to the coffee shop to pick up some little gift cards and coffee cups, while the kids and I rifled through the yarn and button stash to pick out what to use for the gifts. Then I sent them to bed, settled down on the couch with Season 1 of Desperate Housewives and whipped up these two coffee cozies.
I love these!! I think they may be my go-to gift from now on :) They were super speedy (less than an hour each) and the options are endless too!
The pattern, none really! But here's what I did ~ chain 30, four rows of basic double crochet and Lucy's edging on the top and bottom (same as my granny stripe blanket). One side has a loop of 6 chain stitches for the button hole and attached the button wherever it would hold secure on the cup :)
I missed the new moon, again... totally distracted, or just plain laziness, you can be the judge :) Regardless, here is where my TUSAL container sits since the last time I posted an update.
Wow, I didn't realize how crooked that picture is until just now!
Unfortunately, it seems like the creator of the Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long has long since disappeared, she's even deleted her blog recently. I believe many of the participants were going to keep their containers going in the new year, but Daffycat decided to make it official. If you'd like to join in, head on over to her blog and get in on the fun :)
Next up is the ornament I stitched for this years Ornament Exchange with the HoE exchange group. My partner for this exchange was Gwen who emailed me today letting me know her ornament arrived.
Prancer by Judy Whitman of JBW Designs
2004 JCS Ornament Issue
replaced beads with Kreinik #4 braid
Funny thing is, Gwen stitched this same pattern for her partner too! Enjoy Gwen, and Merry Christmas!
Wow ~ what happened to November??? Obviously I've been slacking in the blogging department, but there's been some good things happening around here, even if I'm behind in sharing them :)
First up: I was one of the lucky winners in Terri's Halloween giveaway. I couldn't believe it when I opened the bulging envelope I found in my mailbox, there were so many wonderful things inside!
Things like fabric:
And exciting goodies! Do you see the sweet ornie Terri stitched up too? Love it!
Thank you so much Terri, your generosity is astounding!! And if one spectacular giveaway wasn't enough, Terri's hosting another one right now! Hurry over!
And now for the craft happenings :)
My mom and I had a crafting day a little while back... which turned into a crafty weekend! We sewed & baked & I played with yarn... it looked a little like this:
These stockings were a long time in the finishing queue... The "Lynn" stocking was stitched by me for my mom and actually given to her unfinished about 2 years ago for Christmas *hanging head in shame*. It's from The Cross Stitcher magazine, not sure which year, August 07 maybe? The other two were stitched by Mom for my girls. Thanks for a fun weekend Mom, I can't wait to see all these beauties under the tree! XXOO
That's it for this long overdue post. I'm going to click "publish post" now and cozy up with my stitching for my Sunday night t.v. with my girl now.
