SFS2014 ~ May

May!  What happened to May?!?  I always feel that I have such good intentions, and then I blink.  I wonder, does it feel that way for everyone else?
But here we are again, time for another Stitch from Stash update already!  My total spend for the month of May was...
My hubby picked me up a little bag of stitching odds & ends from a garage sale...  there were a couple of charts and some Aida.  Truth be told, I probably wouldn't have bought it if I was there as the charts aren't really my style, but hey, stash for $5?  Can't really complain, right?  LOL
This brings my total spend for the year to $7.35...  I cannot believe the restraint I've had with stitching stash.  I think I will start to track all crafty purchases though, maybe starting for June.  I haven't been overspending, but I haven't been tracking yarn or anything else either.
I haven't done a lot of stitching in May, but what I have done has been on Butterfly Ballerina Blue.  I am sooo close to finishing page 2!  I thought I would have done it over the last couple of weekends, but there is so much confetti stitching in the outline of the wings!  And I actually am missing one of the colors to finish the stitches in the upper left side of the page, which surprised me as I thought I had gotten all of them when I decided to start the project.  I must've missed writing one number down I guess!
And although there hasn't been a lot of stitching, I have been playing with yarn...  of course!  I finished a shawl that was in Issue 10 of Crochet 1-2-3.  This is a new magazine I just found, which is really affordable at just $3.99CDN an issue!  Fits right into my budget I have to say :)
Not the greatest pic of the shawl, I always seem to forget to take pictures when I have daylight... and I had to fight off the cat too!  I need to figure out blocking, which is something I haven't done as of yet, but it makes such a difference in the finished project.
I love the yarn I chose for the shawl. It's Loops & Threads Soft & Shiny in Burgundy.  Here's a closeup of the yarn & stitches...

I'm not the only one that fell in love with it..  there's a second one on the hook right now, same colorway even!  A special request from my oldest girl, and who can deny their child when they want to wear something their mama made?  Not me, that's for sure!  Hopefully my middle child will come around, she saw it and said, "what did you make a fishing net for?"  Little smart alec!
I mentioned in my last post that I was taking a knitting class this month, so a lot of my time has been spent practicing my stitches on the needles!  I found a great beginner pattern online and practiced by making a couple of dishcloths.  Here's a pic I posted on instagram of my first finish straight off the needles!

The picture was snapped so quickly that I hadn't even woven in the ends yet! haha!
I am now working on my "real" first project, a ribbed scarf that I am absolutely loving.  I know summer is just arriving, but I know that as soon as I finish this scarf I will be wishing for cooler weather so I can wear it!
Did you have a crafty month?  Any new crafting ventures for you lately?  Wishing you all a beautiful week!
